What is trim cap?
Trim cap is the flexible plastic edging that borders a channel letter's acrylic face and fastens it to the return, forming the coloured outline around the lit face.
It comes as a coil with a flange, is worked around the face's perimeter, glued, and stitched or bonded to the return. Besides holding the face on, it's a visual element — the contrasting outline you see around most storefront letters.
Estimating trim cap is a perimeter problem, and perimeter is the number nobody has until the letters are drawn — the same measurement that drives return metal and LED count. Tight inside corners on script fonts are where trim cap labour hides.
