What is face-lit?
A face-lit channel letter emits its light through a translucent acrylic face — the standard, brightest-reading configuration for storefront letters.
LEDs inside the can fire forward through the face, so the letterform itself glows. Faces are usually white or coloured acrylic, sometimes vinyl-overlaid to hit a brand colour by day and glow correctly by night — two different questions, checked separately at proof.
Even illumination is the quality tell. Shallow returns with sparse LED spacing show hot spots per module; deep returns with proper diffusion read as one surface. Combination face-and-halo letters exist and price like both.
