What is raceway?
Also called: Wireway
A raceway is the rectangular mounting box a set of channel letters sits on, containing their wiring and power supplies, so the whole sign attaches to the building through a few points instead of dozens.
Landlords and codes often require raceway mounting: one painted box, a handful of wall penetrations, all electrical serviceable inside — versus flush mounting, where every letter lands its own fasteners and wiring through the facade. A wireway is the slimmer variant, wiring only, supplies remote.
Painted to match the fascia, a raceway mostly disappears; it also makes future tenant swaps far cleaner, which is exactly why property managers write it into lease sign criteria. Quote raceway vs flush explicitly — the install labour differs a lot.
