What is dimensional letters?
Also called: 3D letters, flat cut-out letters
Dimensional letters are solid, unlit letterforms cut or cast from acrylic, metal, PVC or foam and mounted proud of the wall — the standard for lobby signs and unlit exterior identity.
Flat-cut acrylic and metal cover most of the market, from quarter-inch lobby lettering to inch-thick exterior letters; fabricated and cast versions add depth beyond what flat stock allows. Stud mounting with a paper pattern is the install norm.
Material choice is mostly environment: PVC and acrylic indoors, acrylic or aluminum out, foam for big-and-light. The quiet differentiator is edges — laser-cut acrylic edges are glass-smooth, router edges need finishing, and on a lobby wall at eye level the edge is what the client sees.
