What is standoffs?
Also called: Standoff mounts, barrel mounts
Standoffs are the small cylindrical mounts that hold a sign panel an inch or so off the wall through drilled holes, creating the floating look standard on lobby and office signage.
A barrel anchors to the wall, the panel is drilled, and a cap screws through to clamp it — polished stainless or aluminum, in diameters that scale with panel size. The shadow gap is the whole aesthetic, and it forgives wall imperfections a flush mount would telegraph.
Acrylic panels on standoffs crack from over-tightened caps and undersized holes — drill oversize so the fastener never binds the sheet, and snug rather than torque. Layout precision matters double: four holes in glass-clear acrylic leave no room to re-drill.
