What is square-foot pricing?
Square-foot pricing quotes sign work as area times a rate that bundles material, ink and standard labour — the fastest honest way to price most flat printed work.
Each product carries its own rate — banner at one number, laminated ACM at another — built up from real material cost per square foot plus allocated labour and margin. The failure is a rate set once from a competitor's price and never revisited while media costs moved.
It stops working where labour stops scaling with area: fine weeding, complex installs, fabrication. The practiced pattern is area pricing for the printed part plus explicit lines for finishing and install — which is also how customers learn what the expensive part actually is.
