What is crop marks?
Also called: Trim marks
Crop marks are the short corner lines on a printed sheet that show exactly where the finished piece is to be trimmed.
They live outside the artwork, at the corners of the trim box, so the cutter has targets after the bleed area is printed. In signage they matter most on flatbed work trimmed by hand or table saw, and on anything sent to a different machine for finishing.
Marks belong in the file's geometry, not drawn into the art — drawn-on marks scale with the design and end up printed inside the finished sign. Every layout program generates true crop marks at export.
